Danyèle Patenaude
1 hour, for preschool to second year
The workshop is about a little tree called Titus and is an initiation to scriptwriting. With the help of a giant thaumatrope, a toy considered the great-grandfather of moving pictures, the children will learn to transform their ideas into images. Danyèle Patenaude is a widely experienced writer and director of youth films who has led workshops over more than 20 years.

Antoine Touchette
2 hours, for 3rd to 6th years
This workshop demystifies the work of an actor in front of the camera. The participants will have the chance to get comfortable with the camera through different exercises and to develop their creativity in the filmmaking field. They will also have the occasion to discover the atmosphere of a film set and understand the use of different fields related to filmmaking. Also, while watching a few short scenes that they will have shot, the young actors will be able to make the connection between their performance and the results on screen.
Antoine is a child of the television era. After growing up with all kinds of shows for teenagers and kids, he discovered an interest in film, poetry, and the arts in general. He always dreamed of taking part in the creation of these extraordinary worlds that he had viewed as a spectator, which led him to pursue an education in film. He puts this training to use today as a projectionist and the creator of film workshops for the National Film Board of Canada. He discovered the world of theatre at UQAM and the various forms of the art of theatre. Co-founder of the collective Les Néos theatre néo-futuriste and of the company Le Bureau Firme théâtrale, Antoine is one of todays most prolific and diverse artists.

Sylvie Bourdages

In this activity, participants will learn about the materials used in the art of make-up. The analysis of the main characteristics of well-known characters will help participants to learn through practice the basic techniques. Sylvie Bourdage is a professional makeup artist, working in the industry since 1998, and has led many workshops on makeup and special effects. She has perfected her skills in the province of Québec as well as in the United States of America.

Simon Bellefleur
2 hours, for 3rd to 6th years
The workshop teaches about composing soundtracks for animated films. The participants will create the different noises, melodies and rhythms with the help of different objects and synthesizers. At the end of the project the participants should be more critical of their media-filled environment. Simon Bellefleur studied music at the University of Montréal and communication at the UQAM. He works as a composer and arranger.

François Chamberland et René Robitaille
2 hours, for 3rd to 6th years
The workshop is a way to discover in concrete terms the art of film animation. The participants will be taught the basics and will manipulate the figurines, camera and computer to give life to their characters. The results will be shown at the end of the workshop. François Chamberland and René Robitaille, graduates in cinema at the Université de Montréal, work for the programme L'OEIL CINÉMA de l'Association des cinémas parallèles du Québec. Francois Chamberland has worked on many short films and René Robitaille has more than 20 years experience in the audiovisual field. A dynamic and engaging workshop.

Hugues Fournier
2 hours, for 3rd to 6th years
In this workshop, youth are invited to explore the various steps involved in the process of filmmaking. After a brief theoretical introduction, everyone comes together to reproduce a scene from a movie for youth. The students discover the multitude of trades and specialities that make up a film set, each with a precise role play. Filmmaking is truly a team effort! As a video director for eight years, Hugues Fournier has written and directed more than a dozen short films. He became interested in making videos thanks to the Kino movement, which he appreciates for its spontaneity and the privileged relationship with the audience that it offers. His films explore, with humour, human relations in all their forms.

Kino-Karrousel-Downtown
“Do well with nothing, do better with a little and do it right now!” That is the motto of the Kino-Karrousel that will be launched September 27th. A total of 40 youth will write, direct and edit a short film in the space of two days! The public is invited to attend the screening of their creations on Thursday, September 29th at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of Paul-Hubert school. The evening will be hosted by Marc-André Lévesque. The clock is ticking – will all 8 teams manage to accomplish the mission?
Pssst! A new challenge awaits the participants this year! The films will have to be made in a specific genre (comedy, western, fantasy, etc...). And by the way, you are the ones who get to decide what genre of film they will make! You have until September 27th to vote on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/carrousel.rimouski.

Magic Lantern
Making a 30-second animated film in 3 days based on a specific sound track and theme: does this challenge interest you? You could take part in the 10 teams of high school and post-secondary students attempting the Magic Lantern experiment. A professional jury will select the winning teams to award a $500 scholarship in the following three categories: secondary I and II, Secondary III, IV, and V, and postsecondary. To participate, form a team of 10 students and fill out the registration form available at your school office. The workshop will take place from Friday the 23rd to Sunday the 25th of September, and will be led by Anaïs Fournier. We invite you to come discover these masterpieces as well as to watch the Camérios Gala on Sunday, October 2nd.
